When this course is opened in my university, i was on Erasmus, that’s why, i couldn’t take that course in my university. But after this semester , i went to Thessaloniki for Erasmus. Thus, i need to take that course in Thessaloniki. It was much more difficult because i made 2 models, wrote 2 description essays and analyse photos and made presentations.
My term paper is about First Unitarian Church of Rochester by Louis Kahn. These are photos from there.

in“Construction is about the making of architecture; its physicality and its materiality. ”[1]
Details help us to explain how the architectural components are combined. In my project, i used steel and wooden elements. Especially wooden elemnts which is called like timber is a natural material, because of that i want to work with it. Also, steel is flexible, durable and strong material, thus, most of the skyscrapers built with it. I used it in body parts of my project because it can withstand the forces of nature.
In that project, from beginning to end i always tried to produce my parts by controlling to units. It also helps mee to control my design easily. Width of units are same during all parts, height of them change in every points. According to my design purpose, these units are shaped to create enough place for rows and boats. Thus, scales of rows and boats give me an information to shape my design. Main purpose of this theme is increasing the coastside activities. For instance, in that project, people have enough place to walk alongshore without obstacles such as stones, reeds etc. Also i created a place for rows for storage and fixing. Some of the rows are 20 metre thus units can change with it. Also all of these units help me to create rhythm whereby scale differentiation and it is one of my architectural concept.
When i look at generally, structure of design is carried with strong and durable material and they will support each other by the help of beams. Thus, i searched types of beams to create most durable and cheap design. I used U shaped and I shaped beams. U shaped beams help me to cover with timber, it creates plane to carry loads. I shaped beams support reciprocal parts. Between structure and water again steel beams used to carry whole structure and it acts like as a load bearing structure. In my body part, load is distributed equally in all beams. Also i tried to consider live loads such as rain and snow. Because these platforms mostly will be outside and some of cantiever parts can not carry these loads. That’s why, i arrange these cantilever parts according to construction loads and environmental loads.
All in all, after i searched materials, construction details and process of buildings, i compound with my project and sometimes i arranged with it. Thus, it helps me to understand nature of materials and calculations of construction process.

These last two weeks in my studio times and also in my home, i tried to improve my design idea. I altered scale of my model from 1/200 to 1/100 to make more legible. Thus, it was really hard weeks. This photo was taken from the first week of my model on 1/100.

After we produced tension and compression model, we were assigned to create a poster which is related with loads and forces on our models.
Photo of our poster is this;

We were asked to produce some models of given structures after analysing. We analysed the enclosure according to how they define space differently, like connecting, separating, dividing, screening, bordering, defining, enclosing, containing, layering etc and the scale of these products are 1/5.
